From: Maurice Lewis (Lizzie Ann's father)

December 24 1899

Dear Wife, Lizzie Ann, baby, David and Johnny

I take the pleasure of writing these few lines to you hoping that your are all pretty well, especially baby. I do hope that he is getting on right well now. We are both very well and we are having a very happy Sunday, only that it is very wet and gloomy on Christmas Eve, and there are a good many people ill here now with bad colds and influenza. Poor Mr Davies the Foundry was taken very sudden. I do not know of anyone coming to London as you asked, and it is too late now if they were simply for Christmas, and it would be too soon for Mamma.

I have not much news to tell you now, only wishing you all a very happy Christmas. Excuse my short letter. May the Lord be with you all. All this from your dear husband and Frances Lewis.
